The first day of our trip, we arrived in Athens in the late afternoon. Once the sun went down, a few of us ventured out to see how close we could get to the Acropolis at night.
We ended up walking up to the gates to find that we could go no further. We did find we could explore the Odeon of Herodes Atticus which is at the foot of the Acropolis. It is an amphitheater. It was fascinating exploring the structure in the moon light.
It was a joy to finally sleep in a bed after our long flight from Dulles to Istanbul then Athens. Off to bed to get an early start to fly to Crete in the morning.
